Brian Stuard birdied the second hole of a sudden-death playoff to lock up his first PGA TOUR win at the rain-shortened Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Stuard led the field in strokes gained putting (8.547) and putts per green in regulation (1.588) at TPC Louisiana with an Odyssey Works Marxman Fang Tank putter that went into play for the first time at the Valero Texas Open.
In search of a spark, Stuard spotted the putter on the practice green and decided to roll a few putts with it. It only took a practice round to convince him that the putter was worth adding to the bag in San Antonio, where he finished T-55 and made the weekend for the first time since the RSM Classic.
"I just picked this one up on the putting green on Tuesday," Stuard said, "just hitting a few putts with it, felt pretty good, so I was like, give it a try, and I putted well last week. I don't know, it might be in the bag for a while."
The 35-inch progressive mallet is based on Odyssey's popular Maxman design that features perpendicular black and white alignment lines on the crown. The putter has a 385-gram head, perimeter-weighted fangs, 130-gram Tank counterbalance grip and a double-bend shaft.
Here's a look at the rest of the equipment in Stuard's bag:
