Bubba Watson recorded 27 birdies at 2 eagles on his way to a three-shot victory at the Hero World Challenge. This victory came with a new custom-milled PING Anser putter in the bag.
Watson tested the 329-gram putter at PING's headquarters, at the beginning of November, and decided to put it in play in the Bahamas. While it has a similar head shape to the Anser Milled 1 model Watson used to win the Masters in 2012 and 2014, the alignment aid was changed from a line on the flange to a sight dot on the topline that helped Watson free up his putting stroke.
"Because he's such a feel player, he felt like he was getting too mechanical with the sight line and was relying on it too much for aiming," noted Christian Pena, PING's Tour rep. "The dot just allowed him to use his natural abilities, his feel, when he's putting."
Here's a look at the rest of the equipment in Watson's bag:
Driver: PING G30 (Grafalloy Bi-Matrix Rocket Pink X shaft), 9 degrees
3-wood: PING G30 (Fujikura Motore Speeder Tour Spec 8.2 X shaft), 14.5 degrees
Irons: PING S55 (2-iron, 4-PW; True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 shafts)
Wedges: PING Glide (52SS, 56SS and 60TS degrees; True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 shafts)
Putter: PING Custom Milled Anser
Ball: Titleist Pro V1X
