Dustin Johnson will be looking for his first major championship when he tees it up next month at the 2015 U.S. Open. Assuming the nine-time PGA TOUR winner comes out on top — he has two top-10 finishes in seven career U.S. Open starts — he'll depart Chambers Bay with the U.S. Open trophy and more than $1.5 million.
In addition to the spoils that come with winning the U.S. Open, Johnson could also help the golfing public win a free TaylorMade driver. TaylorMade and PGA TOUR Superstore are upping the ante during the tournament, offering a free 2015 TaylorMade driver (R15 or AeroBurner) to anyone who purchases one of the two models at a PGA TOUR Superstore leading up to the second major of the year.
"Dustin is one of the best athletes on TOUR and a top-ranked player whose golf game suits the site of this year’s U.S. Open," said Matt Corey, chief marketing officer of PGA TOUR Superstore. "This promotion at PGA TOUR Superstore is a great way to motivate golfers everywhere to root for Dustin to win his first major, the 2015 U.S. Open."
This isn't the first time TaylorMade has offered a club giveaway during a major championship. In 2009, the equipment manufacturer partnered with Golfsmith to offer a full refund on any TaylorMade driver purchased during Masters weekend if Sergio Garcia won the Green Jacket. He finished T38 that week.
Callaway also offered a similar promotion in 2010 if Phil Mickelson won the Masters. When Mickelson captured his third Green Jacket, Golfsmith offered a full refund to more than 15,000 golfers that purchased a Callaway driver during the promotional window.
To learn more about the promotion stop by any PGA TOUR Superstore or visit http://www.pgatoursuperstore.com/winwithdj.jsp. This promotion runs from May 18 to June 17 and is available only in PGA TOUR Superstore stores.
