New Day Sponsor program benefits five non-profit organizations through Sherwood Cares Foundation
THOUSAND OAKS, California – Tournament officials announced today that the Invesco QQQ Championship will offer free admission to the 2019 event in partnership with four local companies: Chatsworth Products, NINJIO, VIZIO and Gilead Sciences, Inc. Each company will serve as a Day Sponsor throughout the span of tournament when the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs event returns to Sherwood Country Club November 1 – November 3.
The Invesco QQQ Championship and Sherwood Cares Foundation specially designed each of the four Day Sponsors to allow partnership proceeds to benefit five-nonprofit organizations following the Borderline shooting and Woolsey and Hill wildfires that occurred last Fall. The non-profits receiving charitable funds are Habitat for Humanity, FOOD Share, Interface, the American Red Cross Ventura County and United Way Ventura County.
“It wasn’t more than one week after the 2018 Invesco QQQ Championship concluded that the Borderline shooting took place. Then, tragedy struck again as wildfires began sweeping across our community,” said Executive Director Phil Bough. “Our team knew immediately that we’d want to make a concerted effort in 2019 to use the tournament as a conduit toward aid and relief of those catastrophes. We hope everyone will join us at Sherwood Country Club this year as we rally together to honor those who suffered loss and to celebrate the resilience of our community.”
All five non-profit organizations set to receive charitable proceeds have played a role in rebuilding families and communities that experienced trauma as a result of the shooting and the wildfires. Habitat for Humanity and FOOD Share have provided countless resources to families in distress, while Interface has provided in-person needs assessment to 140 survivors and family members. The American Red Cross continues to provide shelter, food, relief, supplies and comfort to thousands of wildfire survivors and United Way created the Southern California Disaster Relief Fund to help low-income individuals and families in need. The Invesco QQQ Championship, Sherwood Cares Foundation and each Day Sponsor worked together to identy charities that not only supported victims of the tragedies last Fall, but also maintain a year-round preparedness for future events effecting the community.
“When Phil Bough approached us about the opportunity to structure free admission into the tournament that in turn benefits local charities aiding in disaster relief, we knew we wanted to be involved,” said Sherwood Cares Foundation President George Carney. “We are so thrilled to be playing a part in generating contributions, furthering resources and ultimately, rebuilding lives. We are indebted to the four companies that have partnered with us to make this vision a reality.”
Chatsworth Products (CPI) will serve as the Day Sponsor on Friday of tournament week. Chatsworth Products is a global manufacturer of IT infrastructure and industrial automation products and solutions that protect your ever-growing investment in information and communications technology.

NINJIO and VIZIO will serve as co-Day Sponsors for Saturday’s second round. NINJIO is a Security Awareness Solution that produces 3-4-minute-long animated episodes that educate users on current cyber security threats, while VIZIO’s mission is to deliver the ultimate entertainment experience through a community of connected customers, advertisers, and media content providers.
“I’m so excited that my company NINJIO, and our friends at VIZIO are co-sponsoring tickets for the public at no cost on Saturday,” said Founder and CEO Zack Schuler. “Our goal is to make sure that anyone who wants to attend and watch their favorite golfers, in live action, can do so at no cost. I’m really excited that the PGA TOUR made this opportunity available for NINJIO and VIZIO.”
Gilead Sciences, Inc., will close out tournament week as Sunday’s Day Sponsor. Gilead is a research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercializes innovative medicines in areas of unmet medical need. The company strives to transform and simplify care for people with life-threatening illnesses around the world. Gilead has operations in more than 35 countries worldwide, with headquarters in Foster City, California.
“As a company, we are committed to supporting the communities where our employees live,” said Tim Moore, Ad Interim Head of Kite, a Gilead Company and Executive Vice President of Technical Operations. “We are honored to be a Day Sponsor of the Invesco QQQ Championship and pleased to be a partner helping the communities devastated by the Borderline shooting, and Woolsey and Hill Fires.”
Free admittance sponsored by Chatsworth, NINJIO, VIZIO and Gilead apply to grounds entry only. Upgraded ticket options gaining fans entry into hospitality venues or the Sherwood Country Club clubhouse will be available for purchase with pricing details to be announced at a later date.
