Benefiting Charities
Sherwood Cares Foundation
The Sherwood Country Club Charitable Foundation (Sherwood Cares) was established as a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization in 2013. Our mission statement, "Serving children and families in our community by supporting programs that address educational, medical, nutrition and safety needs", gives us direction in the selection of charities that we consider for grant awards. During the past three years, the Foundation has granted over $450,000 to twenty-nine deserving local charities. Through the generosity of our members we are able to show how much Sherwood Cares.
The First Tee of Los Angeles
The First Tee of Los Angeles is a youth development charity organization with the mission to “positively impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.” The First Tee of Los Angeles reaches out to youth ages 6-17, targeting communities where golf is traditionally not found. Students enrolled in The First Tee of Los Angeles participate in a structured curriculum that introduces them to the Nine Core Values (Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Courtesy, Perseverance, Confidence, Responsibility, Judgment) and Healthy Habits that can be used both on and off the golf course. Through its partnerships with the Los Angeles Unified School District, Beyond the Bell, local Boys & Girls Clubs, The Salvation Army, Girls Inc. and 13 golf courses across Los Angeles County, The First Tee of Los Angeles currently impacts over 102,000 young people.
