Lehman among Tour's best coming to Dick's Sporting Goods

ENDICOTT, N.Y. -- The DICK’S Sporting Goods Open is proud to announce reigning two-time Charles Schwab Cup Champion, Tom Lehman, and the top 10 players on the current Champions Tour money list have formally committed to the 2013 DICK’S Sporting Goods Open.

Lehman joins the field with seven Champions Tour victories and five PGA TOUR wins. Lehman is currently 13th on the Champions Tour money list. His best finish in the 2013 season is a T2 at the Greater Gwinnett Championship.

Also joining Lehman with their commitments to the Aug. 12-18 Champions Tour Event are Bernhard Langer, David Frost, John Cook, Tom Pernice Jr., Rocco Mediate, Esteban Toledo, Michael Allen, Gene Sauers, Jeff Sluman and Mark O’Meara.

Two-time Masters Champion Bernhard Langer is currently ranked No. 1 on the Champions Tour money list and leads the Charles Schwab Cup points race. The World Golf Hall of Famer has two victories in 2013, claiming both the Ace Group Classic and the Greater Gwinnett Championship.

David Frost will be joining the field with one victory at this season's Toshiba Classic. He boasts six top ten finishes and is currently ranked second in Charles Schwab Cup points.

John Cook is currently ranked third on both the Champions Tour Money List and the Charles Schwab Cup race. He boasts nine Champions Tour and 11 PGA TOUR wins. Cook won the season-opening Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai.

Tom Pernice Jr. joins the field after playing both the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour since turning 50. Pernice, who has two victories on the PGA TOUR, captured his inaugural Champions Tour event (2009 SAS Championship). Tom is currently ranked fourth on both the Champions Tour’s money list and in the Charles Schwab Cup race.

Also joining the 2013 tournament field are previously-announced Rookies, Rocco Mediate (fifth place, money list) and Esteban Toledo (sixth in money). Since our rookie announcement, Toledo has captured his first Champions Tour win at the Insperity Championship.

Michael Allen joins us with a victory at this year’s Mississippi Golf Resort Classic. Allen lost in a playoff to 2012 DICK’S Sporting Goods Open Champion Willie Wood. He has four Champions Tour victories in his three years on the Champions Tour. Michael is currently ranked seventh on the money list and eighth in Charles Schwab Cup points.

Previously announced Champions Tour professional Gene Sauers is ranked eighth on the money list and has finished T2 twice this season.

Jeff Sluman recently combined with good friend Brad Faxon to win the Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf. Jeff has five Champions Tour Victories in addition to his six PGA TOUR wins, including the 2001 B.C. Open. He is currently ranked ninth on the money list.

Mark O’Meara currently ranks 10th on the Champions Tour money list. O’Meara, the 1998 Masters and British Open champion, will make his second DICK’S Sporting Goods Open start. Mark finished seventh in his inaugural appearance at the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open. He is currently ranked 10th on the money list.
