Kirk Triplett turned 50 on March 29 and will make his Champions Tour debut at the Encompass Insurance Pro-Am of Tampa Bay. Known for wearing a bucket hat while on the course, Triplett won last year at age 49 on the Nationwide Tour at the News Sentinel Open Presented by Pilot and three times on the PGA TOUR, most recently at the 2006 Chrysler Classic of Tucson,

Favorite non-golf sport to watch on TV -- Basketball

Favorite music on the iPod -- '70s music

Favorite team as a kid and favorite athlete -- Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Celtics; Johnny Miller, Fernando Valenzuela, Larry Bird

Would love to trade places for a day with -- James Taylor, because I'd spend the day singing and playing guitar. I can't do either.

First jobs -- Paper route, Washington State University grounds crew


Favorite meal -- Steak, cowboy beans, tortillas, and a rustic old-world red

Favorite restaurant when on Tour -- Erling Jensen in Memphis, Emeril's, Pappasitos, Katy's Carmel

One talent I'd most love to have -- Play the piano or sing

Favorite athlete in another sport -- Tom Brady

Favorite movies -- "The Sound of Music", "Forrest Gump", "Hoosiers", "The Natural", "The Lion King", "Tucker" ... and pretty much anything with Steve Martin or Albert Brooks

My wife would say my worst habit is -- Not listening

My most memorable vacation was -- A Mediterranean cruise

I'd most like to sit down for a discussion with and why -- Pope John Paul II. I think he really understood the Church and the world we live in. There are a lot of times I do not. I'd settle for Alex Trebek if the Pope is not available

What I drive -- 2007 Dodge Ram

My most memorable shot was -- The hole-in-one I made on the 16th at Augusta National on Sunday (2004).
