- Grandparents Nub and Carolyn Donaldson were USGA officials.
- Aunt Kelli Smith played basketball for Baylor.
- Has battled a stutter since fifth grade. Putter has the words “stutter king” stamped on it, and his wedges are stamped with the words he struggles to say.
- Says his religious faith is the most important thing in his life and that friends and family come before golf.
- Has delivered food for a couple of different companies.
- Proposed to his wife, a cheerleader, at a Baylor men's basketball game. The public-address announcer recognized her as the recipient of a "reward." She came forward and he proposed.
- Earliest golf memory is swinging Snoopy golf clubs around his house, hitting wiffle balls. AlsoI remembers attending the AT&T Byron Nelson one year and watching Rickie Fowler, who at the time was wearing brightly colored, flat-bill hats.
- Superstitions include picking up every new tee he sees on a tee box. Also, fixes every divot on the green he walks by.

Career Highlights
2022 Season
In 10 PGA TOUR Canada starts, made it to the weekend in all but two tournaments, recording three top-10s. Qualified for the season-ending Fortinet Cup Championship and completed the season No. 16 on the Fortinet Cup standings.

Osprey Valley Open presented by Votorantim Cimentos CBM Aggregates: Entered the final round alone in second, three shots behind 54-hole leader Danny Walker but could never get anything going at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in late-July. Shot a final-round, 2-under 69 to T8 with Kieran Vincent, Jeffrey Kang and Gavin Hall.

Prince Edward Island Open presented by IMP Solutions: Again posted four under-par rounds—moving his streak to 12 consecutive to start this season—to finish T9 at Dundarave GC in early July. Shot a final-round, 2-under 70 to finish six shots back of winner Brian Carlson.

Royal Beach Victoria Open presented by Times Colonist: Had a putt on the 18th hole Sunday to join the Scott Stevens-Jake Knapp playoff at Uplands GC in Victoria in early June. Missed the putt and settled for a solo-third finish, thanks to four sub-70 scores in early June in British Columbia.

PGA TOUR Canada Q-School USA West 1: Entered the final round with a five-stroke lead at The Wigwam outside Phoenix in early April. Struggled with his putting and watched as Max Marsico caught him on the front nine then passed him early on the back. Made a late push but ultimately finished alone in second, two shots behind Marsico. Still earned PGA TOUR Canada membership for the first time.

All Pro Tour Coke Dr Pepper Open: Without membership on a PGA TOUR-affiliated Tour, had a great week on the All Pro Tour's stop in Alexandria, Louisiana. In the first round at OakWing GC, made seven birdies and two pars on his opening nine for a 7-under 28. Remained hot, with four birdies and an eagle over his final nine holes. Shot a 13-under 58 and added a 65-72 finish in the 54-hole event to win the title, defeating Mitchell Meissner by a shot.
Amateur Highlights
- In 2020, became the first Baylor golfer to earn first-team All-American honors.
- Represented the U.S. at the 2020 Palmer Cup. Won his singles match against David Puig at Bay Hill Club and Lodge in the Americans’ blowout loss to the International team.
- The Waco Tribune-Herald named him Baylor’s Player of the Decade for the 2010s.
- Currently holds the second-best career Baylor stroke average (71.58), behind only Jimmy Walker’s 71.55.
- Won the 2019 North and South Amateur at Pinehurst’s No. 2 Course in dominating fashion. Made an eagle at No. 8 to take a 4-up lead when he made the turn. Parred each of his final five holes to defeat Noah Norton, 5 and 4.
- In 2017, was on the GCAA’s five-player All-Freshmen team and was the Big 12 Conference’s Newcomer of the Year.
- Won the final event of his college career, the 2019 Fighting Illini Invitational during his senior season. Began the final round at Olympia Fields CC trailing by two but rallied as the day went on to defeat Florida’s John Axelsen by a shot.
- Second college title came at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, shooting rounds of 66-67-69, the only player in the field with three sub-70 rounds, to defeat Andre Garcia by four strokes.
- During his freshman campaign, won the first of three college titles, capturing The All-American, thanks to scores of 68-66-72, with Baylor also winning the team title.
- Was a three-time Texas state high school team champion playing for Vandegrift High in Austin, Texas. He also won one state individual title.
