Sungjae Im holes chip shot for birdie at Presidents Cup
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Have you got a lazy $10,000 laying around? That’s what you’ll need to put down on the U.S. Presidents Cup team to profit $100 after they forged an 8-2 lead through two rounds at Quail Hollow.
Davis Love III’s team opened at -700 to win the Cup with BetMGM Sportsbook against Trevor Immelman’s International Team but after two dominant rounds they are now -10000 to make it 12 wins in 14 tries in the biennial team competition.
If your wallet is a little short of that kind of scratch, there are still plenty of daily options to wet your whistle over weekend play in North Carolina.
Saturday’s third round sees eight of the remaining 20 points up for grabs with 15.5 the magic number to clinch the Cup. Four Foursomes matches in the morning followed by four Four-Ball matches in the afternoon are on the agenda. The Internationals need to gain at least one point to keep the contest alive into Sunday’s Singles.
If you believe in miracles the International Team is now +4000 to win, while a 15-15 tie is +5000. BetMGM has also set a handicap line at 8.5 points start where you can get +130 odds on the Internationals and -165 on the U.S.
The market for Correct Score also remains open with the favorite U.S. 23-7 or better at +400. Next on the board is U.S. 20-10 at +700, U.S. 19.5-10.5 at +750 and U.S. 20.5-9.5 and 21-9 at +800.
A Day 3 correct score market has also been set up. U.S. 5-3 sits top of the board at +400 while a 4-4 tie is +700. Think the Internationals can peg back the deficit? To win the round 4.5-3.5 gets you +1000 odds and 5-3 is +1400. Want to get crazy? An 8-0 International whitewash is +100000. (It’s +5000 for the U.S. to inflict that sort of damage, which consequently would secure the Cup.)
If you don’t want to guess the exact score you can back the Internationals to win the day at +300 or the U.S. at -400.
Day 3 opens with four Foursomes matches as noted below. The four Four-ball matches won’t be selected until the Foursomes are ending.
Jordan Spieth / Justin Thomas (U.S.) -165 vs. Sungjae Im / Corey Conners (Int.) +135
Cameron Young / Collin Morikawa (U.S.) -165 vs. Adam Scott / Hideki Matsuyama (Int.) +135
Scottie Scheffler / Sam Burns (U.S.) -225 vs. Tom Kim / K.H. Lee (Int.) +175
Max Homa / Tony Finau (U.S.) -190 vs. Si Woo Kim / Cam Davis (Int.) +150
