He'll turn 45 in May but Jim Furyk, a 16-time champion on the PGA TOUR, has no problem contending against players half his age. While he had 11 top-10s last season, though, getting back into the winner's circle has proven to be a challenge and will undoubtedly be an area of emphasis this year.
Furyk's last victory came at the 2010 TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, spurring him on to the FedExCup title. He's been runner-up seven times, including four last year, as he finished fourth in the FedExCup. Two of those second-place finishes came in consecutive weeks at the Wells Fargo Championship and THE PLAYERS Championship. Furyk made a valiant run at another FedExCup title, too, as he posted three top-10s in the Playoffs, including a tie for second at East Lake in the finale. He trailed Billy Horschel by one stroke with two holes remaining but bogeyed the last two holes to fall back into a tie with Rory McIlroy.
Furyk now has 64 rounds in the 60s during the Playoffs, as well as a startling 92 at par or better -- both records. Not to mention, he has advanced to East Lake seven of the last eight years -- missing only a chance to defend his FedExCup title in 2011. Furyk, who did not play the fall portion of the 2014-15 schedule, will be looking to make his eighth Presidents Cup team after going 1-3-0 in his ninth Ryder Cup. -- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM

INSIGHT FROM OUR INSIDERS
PGATOUR.COM's team of insiders look at Jim Furyk's upcoming season from their expert vantage points.
TOUR INSIDER by Brian Wacker
As consistent as Furyk has been in his more than two decades on TOUR -- he had at least 10 top 10s for the seventh time in his career last season -- he failed to win for a fourth straight year. He was the victim of bad luck at times with others putting up some crazy-good performances against him but putting also plagued Furyk on more than one occasion.

STATS INSIDER by Bill Cooney
Furyk is coming off one of the best scrambling season's in PGA TOUR history. In late August, Furyk's scrambling mark was 71.10 percent and he was near the record pace of 72.80 percent set by Greg Norman in 1993. Furyk, one of the straightest drivers and most consistent players with his irons, finished the season first in scrambling at 69.33 percent, which is the fourth-best mark in TOUR history.

EQUIPMENT INSIDER by Jonathan Wall
(Callaway) Switched to Callaway's Big Bertha driver and SR 3 ball at the start of 2014. Still carries an old set of Callaway RAZR X Forged irons that he used to shoot 59 at the 2013 BMW Championship. Carried a couple different putters this year including a Yes! Sophia -- better known as the bargain bin putter that helped him win the 2010 FedExCup and TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola.

STYLE INSIDER by Greg Monteforte
Jim Furyk has settled into a comfortable classical style, so we shouldn't expect anything different from in 2015. However, two fashion New Year's resolutions for Furyk are to size down with his shirts for a more modern fit and replace the sneaker-style shoes with some classic kicks that better complement his style.

FANTASY INSIDER by Rob Bolton
If you needed any evidence of his value, he recently sat No. 3 in the Official World Golf Ranking. And consider that the harshest critics will cite that he hasn't won anything since 2010. That only supports his fantasy value. He's nearer the career fade than most, but there's been zero sign of it occurring soon.
