WinCo Foods is bringing the PGA TOUR back to Pumpkin Ridge for the first time in 20 years! Pumpkin Ridge last hosted a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event in 1994 with the Nike Tour Championship at Ghost Creek, sister course of the Bob Cupp-designed Witch Hollow, host site of the WinCo Foods Portland Open. The PGA TOUR first came to Portland in 1936 and played 13 tournaments there with the last one held in 1966. Winners in Portland over the years include Sam Snead (1944), Ben Hogan (1945), Billy Casper (1959, '60, '61) and Jack Nicklaus (1962, '64, 65). Local and regional spectators also got a taste of golf excellence with Tiger Woods' unprecedented third consecutive U.S. Amateur Championship victory in 1996, the U.S. Women's Open in 1997 and 2003, and the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in 2006, all at the exclusive and private Witch Hollow course. Golf fans are hungry for the return of PGA TOUR golf, and the future stars of the PGA TOUR will deliver August 18-24, 2014!
