The South Georgia Health System is made up of a growing number of hospitals serving a 15-county region in South Georgia and North Florida. With three hospital campuses-- South Georgia Medical Center, SMITH Northview Hospital Campus, and SGMC Berrien Campus, and two managed hospitals, Louis Smith Memorial and Clinch Memorial, our health system offers a wide variety of specialty health services in addition to the treatment of illnesses and injuries. • The SGMC Main Campus is a 285 bed facility located on 28 acres in the heart of Valdosta at 2501 North Patterson Street.

South Georgia Health System
South Georgia Medical Center South Georgia Medical Center is the South Georgia Health System's largest and most advanced hospital. From robotic-assisted surgery to open heart surgery and comprehensive cancer care, SGMC offers many services lines found only in metropolitan hospitals.
For two years, Georgia Trend Magazine listed SGMC's spine surgery and cardiac surgery programs in the top 10 in Georgia. The Pearlman Cancer Center, which offers radiation therapy, chemotherapy and clinical trials consistently meets and/or exceeds national benchmarks for quality cancer care. The Birthplace at SGMC consistently delivers more babies than any other hospital in the region and our Level II Nursery just celebrated its first anniversary. In 2012, our Stroke Program received two prestigious awards for stroke care. Our Code STEMI protocol for heart attack patients continues to meet or beat the national benchmark of 90 minutes door-to-cath time for coronary intervention.
Our orthopedic and spine surgery services are complemented by an acute rehabilitation unit offering physical, occupational and speech therapies. A Diabetes Management Center, Wound Healing Center, Youth Care, Sleep Center, Occupational and Industrial Medicine Center and Health Care South provide a wide selection of treatment services.
To better meet the need for advanced diagnostic imaging, SGMC operates the Imaging Center and Women's Imaging Center in the SGMC Professional Building. The Imaging Center is the only facility in the region to have a 64-slice CT scanner and the region's first fixed-base positron emission tomography (PET) scanner, a device used in the tracking and treating of cancer. The Women's Imaging Center offers two digital mammography, bone densitometry and state-of-the-art ultrasound with volume navigation and fusion technology.
A new, five-story structure which will house the Dasher Memorial Heart Center and 96 private rooms will open later this year next to the SGMC Outpatient Center. The new building will allow us to transition our current facilities into all-private patient rooms, proposed opening is in the late summer of 2013.
SMITH Northview Hospital, a campus of SGMC (www.smithhospital.com) SGMC's SMITH Northview campus operates as a full-service hospital providing outpatient services, general surgeries, newborn deliveries, inpatient care and intensive care.
Since its doors opened in 2002, SMITH Northview has experienced steady growth. An outpatient surgical wing, a seven-bed critical care unit, the Eanes Birth Center which offers four labor, delivery and recovery suites and three post-partum rooms, and a 24-hour emergency department all help to meet the community's need for diverse healthcare services. Outpatient services such as lab, sleep studies, stress testing and medical imaging studies (including digital mammography) are also available.
SMITH Northview is recognized by Blue Cross and Blue Shield as a spine care center of excellence and awarded Blue Distinction. The Spine Care Center clinic is run at both the SGMC Main Campus Surgery Center and at SMITH Northview campus weekly. For the past two years, the hospital also operates the Joseph M. Still Burn Clinic on Wednesday of each week. Specially-trained physicians and mid-level practitioners from the Joseph M. Still Burn Centers, Inc., located in Augusta, GA, to work with clinical professionals from SMITH Northview to provide treatments for adult and pediatric burn victims from our region. SGMC Berrien Campus (www.berrienhospital.com) Berrien County Hospital has been a part of the Nashville, GA community since 1965. The hospital has 51 acute care beds and 12 geriatric/psychiatric beds (SGMC Dogwood Senior Health Center) that serve the needs of Berrien County region. The hospital provides general medical and surgical care for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room services. SGMC Berrien Family Medicine is a primary care center that offers routine doctor visit exams, pediatric care, physicals, and more. With extended hours and open weekends, Berrien Family Medicine is open to serve you and your family's minor illnesses, bumps and bruises and non-life threatening heath needs.
Louis Smith Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of South Georgia Health System With twenty-five beds, Louis Smith Memorial Hospital became part of the South Georgia Medical Center family in 1993. Today it operates as a critical access hospital providing acute and sub-acute care. Together with its 62-bed hospital-based nursing home, Lakeland Villa Convalescent Center, these facilities make up Lanier Health Services, Inc. As the largest employer and largest economic generator in the neighboring community of Lakeland, GA, Louis Smith Memorial Hospital offers quality services and care with the personal feel of a small community hospital. The hospital was just named one of the Top Critical Access Hospitals by Georgia Trend Magazine.
Clinch Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of South Georgia Health System Clinch Memorial Hospital open in 1957 and provides life-giving care to the residents of Homerville and its surrounding counties. It has been a member of the South Georgia Health System since 1997 and now provides 25-bed critical access hospital offers services 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
