Tournament officials announced today that volunteer registration for the fourth annual Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational opens today at www.nchigolf.com.
"Volunteer support is essential to the success of the Tournament," said Tournament Director, Kip McBride. "We are extremely proud of the nearly 800 individuals each year that donate their time to the tournament. They make everything we do at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational possible."
Volunteers have a variety of different areas available to choose from during registration. These areas represent the many tasks required to conduct a Nationwide Tour event. A description of each area is available during registration.
All volunteers receive a uniform that consists of a golf shirt, cap and volunteer badge. Volunteers also receive breakfast and lunch for each day they work as well as preferred parking and tournament tickets for family and friends. In addition, all volunteers are invited to attend a catered post-tournament party immediately following play on July 25th. To cover the cost of the uniform new volunteers are charged a fee of $40.00 and return volunteers a fee of $15.00.
In 2009 the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational raised in excess of $880,000 for charitable organizations, including $325,000 for pediatric cancer research and treatment at Nationwide Children's Hospital. The total marks the largest single-season charitable donation raised by the tournament in the event's three-year history. The figure marked the second largest on the Nationwide Tour in 2009 and brings the tournament's total charitable giving to more than $1.7 million.
