First Shot Fight to Cancer
Tournament Officials announced today the second annual ceremonial first tee shot, named First Shot to Fight Cancer. The shot will mark the beginning of tournament competition for the 2008 Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational. The First Shot to Fight Cancer will occur at 6:45am on Thursday, July 24, immediately prior to the first professional starting time. Professional starting times for Thursday and Friday begin at 7am on tee Nos. 1 and 10.
Hitting the First Shot to Fight Cancer at the 2008 Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational will be five-year-old Nick DiPaolo of Upper Arlington, Ohio. Nick was two when he was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma, one of the most common forms of pediatric cancer. Doctors at Nationwide Children's Hospital found the cancerous tumor in his liver and after surgery and chemotherapy Nick is well on his way to recovery. The DiPaolos credit the staff at Nationwide Children's with excellent care. Nick enjoys playing with his two-year-old sister, Ava, and is looking forward to preschool this fall.
