    • South Carolina Charities, Inc. Names Beneficiaries for the 2011 BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation

    GREENVILLE, S.C. (December 20, 2010) - South Carolina Charities, Inc., the host organization of the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation golf tournament, has selected 26 South Carolina and North Carolina charities to benefit from the 2011 golf tournament.

    The 26 charities that will have the opportunity to earn funds from the tournament are: 100 Black Men of the Upstate, A Child's Haven, Alzheimer's Association - SC Chapter, Blue Ridge Council Boy Scouts of America, Cancer Association of Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties, Charles Lea Center Foundation, Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF), Citizen Scholars of Spartanburg County, Compass of Carolina, Dogs for Autism, First Tee of Greenville, Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE), Greer Middle College Charter High School, Harvest Hope Food Bank, Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad, Hidden Treasure Christian School, Hispanic-American Women's Association (AHAM), Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Meals on Wheels of Greenville County, Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas, Scottish Rite Foundation of SC, St. Joseph's Catholic School, The Walker Foundation supporting the SC School for the Deaf and Blind and YMCA Camp Greenville. "We're excited about this year's beneficiaries, all of which have a proven track record of success with our charity programs," said Bobby Hitt, President of South Carolina Charities, Inc. "All 26 organizations were involved in last year's tournament, and their success in 2010 made it an easy choice for the SCCI board to select them to participate in 2011."

    Each charity will have the opportunity to raise funds for their organization by participating in tournament-sponsored programs including ticket sales, pro-am foursomes sales and by having individuals volunteer on behalf of their charity. Charities will receive 100 percent of the proceeds for selling General Admission tickets to the tournament, which are good all four days of the event and cost $25. They will also receive $25 from each $50 Clubhouse ticket sold.

    Each charity will also have the opportunity to earn funds by fielding golf teams for two one-day pro-ams occurring Tuesday, May 17 at Thornblade Club and Wednesday, May 18 at Bright's Creek Golf Club. Charities receive $3,000 of the $6,000 sale price of each foursome.

    Charities are also encouraged to recruit as many volunteers as possible. Participating organizations will retain the $40 uniform package fee for each of their volunteers who sign up and work a minimum of two shifts during the tournament.

    "These programs provide risk-free opportunities for charities to earn funds to support their organization, which is great for everyone involved," said Darin MacDonald, tournament director.
