|Fourth Annual Mike Creery First Tee Love for the Game Junior Golf Day Scheduled for Saturday, May 21|
GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 12, 2011) - The fourth annual Mike Creery First Tee Love for the Game Junior Golf Day was announced today during Media Day for the 2011 BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation.
Local youth are invited to attend this free event, which will be held on Saturday, May 21 at Thornblade Club's practice range immediately following the third round of the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation. The event is expected to begin at 5 p.m. and last for approximately an hour and a half.
During this free event, youth will have the opportunity to hit golf balls at Thornblade Club's practice range while Nationwide Tour professionals provide golf tips. All youth will also receive free OOBE t-shirts, Chick-fil-A sandwiches, Coca-Cola product, golf balls signed by Nationwide Tour professionals and door prizes provided by Walmart. Adults are invited to attend as chaperones and will have the opportunity to make a contribution for a chance to "hit the green" and win prizes.
Complimentary parking and shuttle service will be provided from 4-7 p.m. in the parking lot behind Bank of America at the corner of Pelham Road and Beacon Drive. Spectators attending the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation are invited to stay onsite for the event. The First Tee Greenville is a non-profit organization whose mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. The First Tee's objective is to provide affordable and accessible golf facilities, instructional programs and life skills for young people, particularly those who have not yet had access to the game.
Mike Creery, the late husband of Thornblade Club's General Manager Patricia Calder, was an avid golfer who enjoyed encouraging young pros and was passionate about getting juniors involved in golf at an early age.
"The Mike Creery First Tee Love for the Game Junior Golf Day has become an important event to The First Tee Greenville," said Nancy Daniel, director of The First Tee Greenville. "Not only does it help raise needed funds, it positively influences the behaviors of young people. The Nationwide Tour pros are generous and gracious and leave a lasting effect on the participants."
All proceeds from the event will be donated to The First Tee Greenville in Mike Creery's name.
