    • Web.com Championship set to host the inaugural Skills Challenge for First Tee of North Florida

    PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The Web.com Tour Championship has partnered with The First Tee of North Florida to host the inaugural National School Program Skills Challenge during the upcoming Championship. The Skills Challenge will be held at TPC Sawgrass during the final round of play at the Web.com Tour Championship, taking place September 18-21.

    The National School Program Skills Challenge will host a field of over 120 fifth-graders from partnered locations consisting of over 30 elementary schools in Duval, Clay, and St. Johns Counties. Four students from each school (accompanied by school officials) are selected to represent their alma mater and fellow peers in a shotgun format of golf and life skill challenges testing their understanding of golf shots and character building traits inherent golf and life.

    To culminate the event, students, family members and school officials fill in around the fairway and green on the 18th hole of Dye’s Valley course as play concludes for the Web.com Tour Championship. In Web.com Tour fashion the top 50 students (25 boys and 25 girls) will receive a year membership to The First Tee of North Florida, a chance to communicate in pen pal fashion with a top 50 Web.com Tour player, and walk away from the event with logoed apparel.

    Launched in 2004, The First Tee National School Program helps students develop an appreciation for the positive personal and social values associated with golf. Nationwide, there are more than 800 school districts that have introduced The First Tee National School Program. Contributing to that number is The First Tee of North Florida, successfully partnering with 50 schools in 8 different counties (Duval, St. Johns, Clay, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam, Columbia, and Baker) positively impacting over 20,000 students and exposing them to the game of golf and its inherent values.
