14 DOWN, 7 TO GO IN REGULAR SEASON - The Web.com Tour's Regular Season is racing to its conclusion. With 14 of 21 Regular Season events completed, the Utah Championship begins the final third of this portion of the 2013 season. Players will be jockeying hard over the next seven weeks to nail down one of the two things; a top-25 finish on the money list, which will insure a PGA TOUR card for 2013-14, or a top-75 finish, which will secure a spot in the new four-event Web.com Tour Finals and keep alive their chance of earning one of the remaining 25 cards that will be on the line in September's Finals. Scott Dunlap is the current No. 25 and last year's NEC Series-PGA TOUR Latinoamérica leading money winner Ariel Canete No. 75.
PROMOTION WEEK!? – With two wins on the year, Michael Putnam is the only player on Tour in position to earn a battlefield promotion this week in Utah. In five starts at host Willow Creek CC, the Washington native has a win (2010) and two runners-up (2006, 2012). His worst finish is a T28 in 2008.
OH SO CLOSE TO WIN NO. 1 – A trio of former Web.com Tour players recorded their best PGA TOUR finish at The Greenbrier. Aussies Steven Bowditch and Matt Jones and Texan Jimmy Walker were runners-up along with fellow Tour alumnus and three-time TOUR winner Johnson Wagner.
RUSSELL HENLEY, LUKE GUTHRIE ARE SCOTLAND BOUND – A pair of two-time winners last year on the Web.com Tour and current PGA TOUR rookies, Russell Henley and Luke Guthrie, will be playing in their first British Open Championship next week at Muirfield Golf Club in Scotland. Henley, who won the Sony Open in Hawaii in January, got confirmation of his spot on Sunday when the Open Championship confirmed its five FedExCup exemptions following the Greenbrier Classic. Guthrie successfully qualified in Dallas this summer. Henley will be playing his fifth major (three U.S. Opens, one Masters to date) and Guthrie his second (2013 U.S. Open).
WEB.COM FAN EXPERIENCE – Web.com has introduced its “Web.com Fan Experience”, a pavilion open to the public which is designed to educate fans about Web.com using interactive stations for fans, branded giveaways, areas to watch a tournament telecast, and Web.com signage. Web.com is working on plans for the four Finals events in Fort Wayne, Charlotte, Columbus and Ponte Vedra Beach.
