Bragging rights among the Nationwide Tour members goes to Casey Wittenberg, who posted the best finish of the 11 who competed at the 2012 U.S. Open.
Wittenberg, whose 67-70 weekend was bettered only by champion Webb Simpson, finished at 5-over 285 to tie for 10th. Paired with Tiger Woods on Sunday, Wittenberg bogeyed his first two holes, but birdied Nos. 7 and 11 to finish his week with an even-par 70.
"It's always fun to play with Tiger," Wittenberg said. "He's fun to be around and a good person and so it's always fun to watch. I'll take something from this week and play some good golf the rest of the year."
Wittenberg, fresh off his first major top 10, returns to the Nationwide Tour on Thursday at the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open.
Finishing a shot behind Wittenberg and tied for 15th was Aaron Watkins, who closed with a 1-over 71. Alistair Presnell (70) was tied for 29th. Watkins, Presnell, and the other eight players who teed it up at the Olympic Club this week are headed for Wichita for the next Nationwide Tour event.
