| Most Difficult Hole |
 | The par-4 490-yard 3rd As one of the toughest par 4s on the course, playing strategy for this hole must be well thought out. While this is a flat hole, it turns left to right, with a wetland left of the green. Unlike No. 2, you're now at the bottom of a hill, and you'll find yourself in a forested atmosphere. Once again, deciduous hardwoods are the rule of the day. 2008: 0 eagles, 45 birdies, 265 pars, 112 bogeys, 17 double bogeys, 4 others. | |
| Easiest hole | | The par-5 566-yard 11th A classic par 5 that should be reachable in two by the longer hitters and provide multiple options of play for the shorter hitter. The tee shot is slightly downhill with a fairly flat lay-up and an uphill second shot. A pine forest is to the left of the elevated tees. Bear lake and a large sand trap make up the right side of the fairway and a hardwood forest is to the right of the green. 2008: 15 eagles, 220 birdies, 180 pars, 24 bogeys, 2 double bogeys and 2 others. | |

| Course origins |
| From 1863 until 1924, the McRee family developed one of the largest, most progressive farming businesses in Georgia on 20,000 acres at Kinderlou. The farm's robust activities attracted people from miles away to live, visit, shop and work. Kinderlou was considered an industrialized complex for its time. Farming operations included the production of cotton, sugar cane, tobacco, pecans, peaches, mulberries, and an array of vegetables. Livestock operations included swine, dairy and beef cattle, and industrial operations included a cigar factory with skilled Cuban labor, a sawmill, a basket and crafting factory and a molasses press. | |
| Kinderlou was the first place to have a home with indoor plumbing in the Valdosta area and the place where truck farming was introduced. Kinderlou is named after Louisa McRee, George McRee's sister, who raised four sons after the death of their mother. "Kinder" is German for children and "Lou" is a reference to Louisa McRee. The widow of the four sons of George Randolph McRee began divesting the Kinderlou land in the 1920s. The Langdale Company purchased William Spain's 600-acre home site in the 1950s, where Kinderlou Forest Golf Club is currently located. --Source: Golf Course Superintendents Assocation of America | |
