Expert picks: Tour Finals
Expert Projected Champion Explanation
Jeff Shain Ben
Came on a little too late to catch Michael Putnam for the Tour money title, but led the circuit in scoring average and the all-around. Seems to fare better on tougher layouts, which should be to his advantage in the Finals.
Sean Martin John Peterson He came within one shot of earning a PGA TOUR card for 2013-14. His steady play this season will pay off in the biggest events.
Anne Detlefsen Jamie
The 2010 Tour Player of the Year showed he was back when he went T7-Win-T6 in a three-start stretch to break into the 25. He's got the game to finish his year on top.
Bryan Mullen Chesson
Hadley enters the Finals No. 3 on the money list and won the Rex Hospital Open in late June. He also have four, top-six finishes and won't flinch when the pressure mounts.
Chris Dunham David Mathis Guess this is kind of going out on a limb taking a guy who finished 40 spots out of the FedExCup Playoffs on the PGA TOUR. Mathis had 11 missed cuts and one top-60 finish in his first 17 starts this year but made six of his last seven cuts this year including a T5 at the Reno-Tahoe Open. He's already won once at the TPC Sawgrass Valley course when he desperately needed to and I can see him putting together a few good weeks with an exclamation point at Dye's Valley to secure 2013-14 TOUR status.
