A strong field has assembled at the Wells Fargo Championship, including Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy. Here's a look at some groups to keep an eye on:

Seung-yul Noh-Jimmy Walker-Bill Haas -- 7:50 a.m. Eastern, 10th tee on Thursday; 1:15 p.m. Eastern, 1st tee on Friday: The TOUR's newest winner is playing with the current FedExCup leader Jimmy Walker and local favorite Bill Haas, a Wake Forest alum. Noh won last week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans, while Walker has won three times this season. Haas has twice finished fourth at this event.

Jonas Blixt-Rory McIlroy-Rickie Fowler -- 8 a.m. Eastern, 10th tee on Thursday; 1:25 p.m. Eastern, 1st tee on Friday: McIlroy and Fowler have been linked since the 2007 Walker Cup. Both won their first PGA TOUR titles at Wells Fargo, as well. McIlroy won in 2010 after shooting a final-round 62. Fowler won two years later in a playoff over McIlroy and D.A. Points. McIlroy finished 10th at Quail Hollow last year, his third top-10 in four appearances there. Fowler has finished 16th or better in three of his four Wells Fargo starts. Blixt is making his first start since his second-place finish at the Masters; he was T9 at this event in 2012.

Zach Johnson-Webb Simpson-Ernie Els -- 1:15 p.m. Eastern, 1st tee on Thursday; 7:50 a.m. Eastern, 10th tee on Friday: Charlotte resident Webb Simpson is playing alongside two fellow major champions. Simpson, who lives in Charlotte and is a Quail Hollow member, finished fourth at this event two years ago. Johnson has just one top-10 (T6, 2011) in 10 starts at Quail Hollow. Els is making his first appearance at this event since 2007.

Phil Mickelson-Justin Rose-Lee Westwood -- 1:25 p.m. Eastern, 1st tee on Thursday; 8 a.m. Eastern, 10th tee on Friday: Mickelson, who finished third at this event last year, is grouped with two Englishmen. Mickelson has three top-three finishes in 10 starts at Wells Fargo but is without a win; he's finished in the top 12 eight times. Westwood is coming off a seven-stroke victory at the Maybank Malaysian Open and a seventh-place finish at the Masters. He's finished in the top five in his past two Wells Fargo appearances. Rose has never finished in the top 25 in five appearances at Wells Fargo. He is coming off a 14th-place finish at the Masters and eighth-place showing at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
