One of the anicillary benefits of Robert Karlsson's tie for 10th at last week's McGladrey Classic was that it got him into the field for this week's OHL Classic at Mayakoba.
So far, he has taken advantage of the opportunity.
Karlsson shot an 8-under 63 Friday to take the lead in Mexico, where weather delays forced the first round to be completed a day late.
"I feel pretty happy the way I'm going," Karlsson said. "I didn't score very well in the Web.com playoffs, but I had the feeling the game was coming back."
The Swede made just nine cuts in 18 starts last season but has had a much better start to this season. He's coming off a final-round 65 at Sea Island, and Friday made nine birdies and just one bogey.
Brian Stuard is two back along with Kevin Kisner, who was still finishing his opening round when Karlsson finished.
