LAS VEGAS -- The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is the second event of the 2013-14 season. The featured groups at TPC Summerlin include players with ties to the prestigious golf program at nearby UNLV, as well as past champions and recent winners. Here's a look at some groups to watch:

Brendon de Jonge-Hideki Matsuyama-Kris Blanks (7:14 a.m., No. 10): De Jonge is coming off appearances in this year's TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola and Presidents Cup; he finished second at this event last year, the best finish of his career. His Presidents Cup teammate, Matsuyama, finished a career-best T-3 at last week's Frys.com Open; Matsuyama, who's playing his first season as a PGA TOUR member, has finished in the top 25 in all seven of his TOUR starts as a pro. Blanks has hree events in the 2013-14 season to earn $257,451 to regain his full status under a medical extension.

Zach Johnson-Ryan Moore-Davis Love III (7:23 a.m., No. 10): Two past champions, Moore and Love, are playing alongside one of the planet's hottest players. Moore, who won the NCAA individual title at nearby UNLV, won last year's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Love won this event in 1993 and lost a playoff in 1996 to Tiger Woods, who claimed his first TOUR title here. Love and Moore have a share of the TPC Summerlin course record (61), as well.  Johnson finished in the top 10 in seven of his final eight starts of the 2013 season, including a win at the BMW Championship.

Jimmy Walker-Nick Watney-Angel Cabrera (7:33 a.m., No. 10): Walker won his first TOUR title at last week's Frys.com Open; he finished 10th at this event last year. Watney, a former Las Vegas resident, has posted three consecutive top-10s at TPC Summerlin. Cabrera is coming off a recent appearance at the Presidents Cup.

Charley Hoffman-Bill Lunde-Chad Campbell (11:49 a.m., No. 1): This is one for the local crowds, an all-UNLV group; all three players are past TOUR winners, as well. Hoffman and Lunde both list Las Vegas as their hometowns. Lunde and Campbell are in the field on sponsor exemptions.

Harris English-John Merrick-Graham DeLaet (11:58 a.m., No. 1): Two players who won their first TOUR titles in 2013, English (FedEx St. Jude Classic) and Merrick (Northern Trust Open), are playing with a player who many think will get his first win soon.

Patrick Reed-Webb Simpson-David Toms (12:08 p.m., No. 1): Simpson, the 2012 U.S. Open champ, plays with one of the TOUR's most recent champions and a major winner. Reed won the 2013 Wyndham Championship in his rookie TOUR season. Toms is the 2001 PGA Championship winner.
