This week's Frys.com Open is the opening event of the PGA TOUR's 2013-14 season, which now has a wraparound schedule through the end of next year's TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola.
Unlike previous years, the events after the TOUR Championship this year now include full FedExCup points. That means players who participate in the six events before the winter break can get a jump on the FedExCup points list. The winner of this week's event, for instance, receives 500 points and will be the Week 1 leader.
We thought it would be fun to check out what the FedExCup standings would have been like based on the most recent results from the six events in this season-opening stretch. Tournaments include Frys.com Open, Shriners Hospital for Children Open, CIMB Classic, World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions, The McGladrey Classic and the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.
If points had been applied last year, Jonas Blixt would've been your FedExCup leader going into the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in January of 2013.
Here's how the top 50 in FedExCup points would have shaped up based on the results of those six events (* - winner of one of the six tournaments):
|1||Jonas Blixt *
|2||Nick Watney *
|3||John Huh *
|4||Ian Poulter *
||550||29||Davis Love III
|5||Brendon de Jonge||530||30||Chris Kirk
|6||Ryan Moore *
|7||Tommy Gainey *
|14||Bo Van Pelt
|21||Charles Howell III
||197||46||Richard H. Lee
|22||Phil Mickelson||192||47||Gaganeet Bhullar
