DUBLIN, Ohio -- Jack Nicklaus joked earlier this week that he wasn't sure what dropping the puck actually meant. But he did just fine at Friday night's Columbus Blue Jackets-Calgary Flames game.
Nicklaus dropped the ceremonial first puck prior to the Blue Jackets home opener, as the NHL team honored the legendary hometown golfer during a week in which The Presidents Cup is being held at Nicklaus' Muirfield Village.
The Blue Jackets gave Nicklaus a No. 18 jersey to wear, a reference to Nicklaus' record' total of major wins.
Nicklaus has been a presence at the tournament all week but is not at the course Saturday. Instead, he is at the Florida State-Maryland football game, watching his grandson Nick O'Leary, who plays for the Seminoles.
Nicklaus will return to Muirfield Village on Sunday for the final day of The Presidents Cup.
