Preview: Haas-Mahan (U.S.) vs. Els-de Jonge (Int'l)

DUBLIN, Ohio -- A preview of the Friday Foursomes match between the American duo of Bill Haas-Hunter Mahan vs. the International duo of Ernie Els-Brendon de Jonge. Tee time for this match is 1:21 p.m. ET.

Bill Haas
1-3-2 (0-1-1 Foursomes)

Ernie Els
17-17-2 (6-7-1)

Hunter Mahan
8-6-1 (4-1-1)

Brendon de Jonge
0-1-0 (0-0-0)

United States: Haas made seven birdies in his Four-ball match Thursday with Webb Simpson, a match that even the  Internationals, who won the 18th to halve the match, said neither team deserved to lose. Haas and Mahan, who only made two birdies in Four-balls on Thursday, have history together, beating Day and Aaron Baddeley by a 2 and 1 margin in Australia two years ago. So there should be a comfort zone.-- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM

International: Els needs to do a lot more on Day 2 after making just one birdie (and not until the 17th, no less) in the first match. Meanwhile, de Jonge was 7 under on his own ball and this duo still lost. Haas and Mahan can't be feeling great, however, after they were ahead or tied for all but a combined three holes in their openers yet managed just a half-point in those two matches. It's simple: If Els and de Jonge, neither of which is great with the flat stick, can make putts, they'll win. -- Brian Wacker, PGATOUR.COM

Helen Ross: International. Els and de Jonge appeared to hit their stride late Thursday.

Brian Wacker: U.S. De Jonge won't play as well.
