ATLANTA -- Roberto Castro is making his first appearance in the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola.
By his estimation, however, he has played East Lake at least 100 times. Castro played his college golf at nearby Georgia Tech and lives here.
"I used to play it more in the college season when it was cold and windy," Castro said. "But I kind of know where I'm going. It should help."
Not that he needs any.
Castro has yet to finish outside the top 25 in his first three FedExCup Playoffs events this year with a tie for ninth at the Deutsche Bank Championship his best finish among them.
He's also not the only player with a local connection. Matt Kuchar also played at Georgia Tech.
"I feel very comfortable here," said Kuchar, who enters the week fifth in the points standings, meaning that if he wins here he'll win the FedExCup, too. "Walking through the clubhouse, I still slow down and kind of look at the trophy cases and admire all the memorabilia and continue to kind of try to soak it up."
He of course wouldn't mind adding to that collection. This is the third time in the last four years Kuchar has come to East Lake in the top 5 in FedExCup points.
