LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The latest member of the 59 club has heard from the original member.

Jim Furyk said Sunday that Al Geiberger sent him a text message on Saturday night. Geiberger was the first PGA TOUR pro to shoot 59 in a single round at the 1977 Danny Thomas Memphis Classic and is known simply as Mr. 59.

Furyk became the sixth member of the exclusive club on Friday when he shot a 59 in the second round of the BMW Championship.

"Pretty cool," Furyk said about hearing from Geiberger. "He said he was the honorary chairman of the club, and he wanted to say congrats. So that was nice to hear from him.

"And I sent back the message it just felt weird to be called Mr. 59, that he was 'the' Mr. 59 and we all just get to borrow it once in a while."

Geiberger wasn't the only member of the 59 club to contact Furyk. Paul Goydos, who shot his 59 at the 2010 John Deere Classic, congratulated Furyk earlier this week.

Although not a member of the 59 club on the PGA TOUR, Russell Knox did shoot 59 on the Web.com Tour this year and also sent a message to Furyk.
