LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Of the first five players who shot 59 in a single round on the PGA TOUR, just three had to come back the next day and play again.
Al Geiberger, the first member of the 59 club, followed up his second-round 59 in the 1977 Danny Thomas Memphis Classic with an even-par 72.
Chip Beck, at the 1991 Las Vegas Invitational, followed up his third-round 59 with a 4-under 68.
Paul Goydos, at the 2010 John Deere Classic, followed up his opening-round 59 with a 3-under 68.
The other two members, David Duval and Stuart Appleby, shot their 59s on the final round (each to win the event).
Now Jim Furyk will feel what it's like to get the competitive juices flowing again after his second-round 59 on Friday at the BMW Championship.
