JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Tiger Woods entered this week's Barclays leading the FedExCup standings. Now he's looking to distance himself even more.
Woods has birdied three straight holes in the middle of his opening nine to get within one of the lead at Liberty National. He was facing a 22-footer for another birdie when the horn sounded and play was suspended due to dangerous weather in the area.
All of Woods' birdies came from close range after he stuck his approach shots to inside of 6 feet on Nos. 13, 14 and 15.
So far, Woods has hit every green and all but one fairway and has 11 total putts through seven holes.
The last time The Barclays was played here, in 2009, Woods finished second, one shot back, after a pair of 67s on the weekend.
