WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. -- Asked to rate his first trip to The Greenbrier, Bubba Watson gave it a whopping 99 percent.
"The atmosphere and everything was great," Watson said. "My golf was the 1 percent that's missing."
Watson, who brought his wife Angie and son Caleb for some R&R the week before The Greenbrier Classic began, managed to break par every day at The Old White TPC. He finished the week 5 under as a result, but was never able to make anything happen.
For the week, Watson hit 41 of 56 fairways, 49 of 72 greens in regulation and used 115 putts. He ranked first in driving distance and tied for first in distance of putts made.
"I made too many mistakes," Watson acknowledged but quickly added, "I'm looking forward to the rest of the year, I'm playing great."
Watson has a busy schedule on the horizon, too. He plans to play the British Open, RBC Canadian Open, World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational and PGA Championship.
"I'm just looking forward to the challenges and playing some good golf," he said.
