BETHESDA, Md. -- Rory Sabbatini withdrew from the AT&T National after 12 holes Thursday, citing a back injury.
The six-time PGA TOUR winner was 8 over at the time, having made three double bogeys, three bogeys and one birdie.
Sabbatini walked off the course after a double bogey on the par-4 12th and went directly to the fitness trailer afterward to have the injury treated. He contacted rules officials immediately about the injury.
The South African had missed his last two cuts prior to this week, at the Travelers Championship and the U.S. Open. In 17 starts this year, he has missed the cut in nine of them.
