Peter Tomasulo was last but certainly not least Thursday at TPC San Antonio.
Playing in the final group of the day, Tomasulo birdied the par-5 18th to grab a share of the lead with Matt Bettencourt at 5 under in the opening round of the Valero Texas Open.
Four others, including Padraig Harrington, who hasn't won on the PGA TOUR since 2008, are another stroke back.
Ten others, including Jim Furyk, are at 3 under.
Tomasulo is making just his sith start of the season on the PGA TOUR (he also has two on the Web.com Tour). His 67 Thursday is one off his season low and comes a week after missing the cut in Houston, where he shot 82-67.
Jordan Spieth had a share of the early lead at 4 under, but a triple bogey late dropped him back to 1 under.
Rory McIlroy, who added the Valero Texas Open to his schedule at the last minute, is five strokes off the lead after shooting even par.
