Cut check: Phil, others going home

ORLANDO, Fla. -- After recording his highest career round at Bay Hill -- a 79 -- Phil Mickelson easily missed the cut at 8 over for the week.

He's not the only big name going home early.

Webb Simpson and FedExCup leader Brandt Snedeker finished at 9 and 8 over, respectively. Simpson, who opened with an 80, shot 73 Friday, while Snedeker shot his second straight 76 in his first start in more than a month after being sidelined with a rib injury.

Bud Cauley's sophomore slump also continues. He shot 73 to end the week at 8 over in what will be his fourth missed cut in his last five starts (not including a withdrawal last week in Tampa).

Charley Hoffman, who at one point in the opening round was 4 under, was 10 strokes worse on Friday, carding a second-round 79.
