MARANA, Ariz. -- Lengthy delays on Wednesday and Thursday, the first while the snow was falling and the second while it was slowly melting, have caused officials to alter the schedule for the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship.
The 16 second round matches will now all be held on Friday after the four-and-a-half hour delay on Thursday before the opening matches could be resumed. The third round and quarterfinals are scheduled for Saturday and the semifinals and finals will be held on Sunday.
With the exception of the possibility of frost each morning, the forecast is for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-50s o low-60s each of the next four days.
Approximately 4 inches of snow fell on the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Dove Mountain during a 12-hour period on Wednesday and first-round play was halted for the day at 3:07 p.m. ET. Some of the snow had melted before the second storm hit that evening but the remainder was slow to melt on Thursday morning.
