CROMWELL, Conn. -- Conditions have toughened at TPC River Highlands, where the wind has picked up a bit and the course firmed up. The result: No one has been able to catch leader Bubba Watson.
Watson finished his round in the morning, shooting a 3-under 67 to get to 10 under entering the weeknd.
Padraig Harrington is closing in, however, after playing his first 12 holes in 4 under to get to within two. Also at 8 under is Hunter Mahan, though that number is about to go up after he hit it in the water on the 13th hole.
Webb Simpson, Tommy Gaineyand John Merrick, meanwhile, are another stroke back and still on the golf course.
The cut continues to hover around even par and 1 under. At even par at the moment, 82 players are inside the number, meaning there would be a secondary cut on Saturday.
But with a lot of golf still left -- the last groups are through just seven holes -- the number could easily move.
