Bubba Watson withdrew from the Farmers Insurance Open prior to the start of Thursday's opening round at Torrey Pines due to the flu.
"Pulling out of tourney this morning, don't have energy for golf. Feel the same as Maui. Got to say thanks to my peeps for the prayers!" Watson wrote on his Twitter feed, @bubbawatson.
At the season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions, Watson said he was unable to keep food down prior to the delayed final round but managed to complete his round en route to a tie for fourth.
Watson, the 2011 Farmers Insurance Open champion, was scheduled to play with Phil Mickelson and defending Farmers champ and reigning FedExCup champ Brandt Snedeker in one of the tournament's notable groups.
Billy Mayfair will replace Watson in the field and join Mickelson and Snedeker for the first two rounds. That group is scheduled to tee off at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.
