ATLANTA, Ga. -- Tiger Woods pulled within two strokes of the clubhouse lead when he got up and down from the greenside bunker for a birdie at the par-5 ninth hole to make the turn in 2 under.
Woods has been steady on the front nine, hitting 6 of 7 fairways and the same number of greens while using just 12 putts. The birdie was his third in nine holes against just one bogey.
Woods' playing partner, Rory McIlroy, bogeyed his first hole and birdied the third, then has reeled off six pars. He had a chance at the ninth hole but missed an 11-footer for birdie there.
