After a record-breaking run on the Web.com Tour, Ben Kohles is
bringing his talents to the PGA TOUR. The two-time Web.com Tour
champion has been given a sponsor invitation to this week's Wyndham
Championship. Just a few weeks ago, Kohles got a spot at the
Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational when Peter Uihlein
turned down his spot as a college All-America. Kohles took
advantage of the opportunity and won in his first professional
start. He didn't stop there, though. Kohles headed straight to the
Cox Classic Presented by Lexus of Omaha and won again. "It's pretty
life-altering," Kohles said after his second victory. No kidding.
It vaulted him to No. 2 on the money list after just two starts on
Tour. Here are a few highlights from those two record-breaking
weeks: - First player in Web.com Tour history to win in his first
two professional starts. - 12th player in Tour history to register
consecutive victories; seventh player to win in consecutive weeks.
- Previous record for quickest to win twice was Kevin Stadler, who
took four starts to win two times. - Moves to No. 2 on the money
list with $261,000. - Joins Casey Wittenberg as the only other
two-time winner this year. Kohles grew up not far from the Wyndham
Championship in Cary, N.C. He didn't start playing serious golf
until around age 13 and played his college golf at the University
of Virginia.
