Greg Owen closed with a 29 on his
final nine holes Thursday.
Greg Owen started with a thud and finished with an impressive
63 and the outright lead at Hamilton G&CC. The Englishman
opened with a double bogey and a bogey his first two holes before
playing 10 under the rest of the way en route to a 63 and the
clubhouse lead at the RBC Canadian Open (

inauspicious start, closing in 29 to sit at 7 under after his
opening round. It’s the lowest score of Owen’s career,
bettering the 64 he shot in the second round of the 2009 Frys.com
Open. I t also puts Owen on track for his best finish of the
season. In 19 starts, Owen has just two top 10s. On the day, Owen
hit 14 greens in regulation and took just 25 putts. His eagle came
on the 542-yard fifth, where he reached the green in two then
rolled in a 12-foot putt.
