SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Phil Mickelson said Saturday that the front-nine 38 he shot in the second round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open "kind of shook me up."
So Lefty placed a call to Butch Harmon, and his swing guru flew in Saturday morning for a session on the range. The result was a solid 67 that left Mickelson at 8 under for the tournament.
Unfortunately, as it turns out, Harmon left later that afternoon. And Mickelson, with shades of deja vu, has just polished off another front-nine 38 that included one birdie, two bogeys and a three-putt double bogey at the eighth hole after leaving his second shot in a fairway bunker.
Mickelson only hit four fairways and five greens in regulation on the front nine while taking 18 putts. He’s now 5 under as he heads to the back nine.
