SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Phil Mickelson is keeping the fans happy as he plays the back nine on Saturday.
The Arizona State grad, who lived in the area for 12 years before moving back to California, made the turn in 1 under and he’s just birdied three of his first four holes. Mickelson is now 8 under for the tournament and tied for sixth, but trailing Spencer Levin by eight.
Mickelson started the back-nine sprint when he tapped in from 15 inches at the par-4 10th. He made a 20-footer at the 11th hole and got up and down from behind the par-5 15th for his third birdie.
Not to mention, Mickelson has got another par 5 before he gets to the always exciting 16th. Just think what the roars will be like if he can coax in another birdie.
