PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Sergio Garcia is making quite a run on the back nine.
He played his first six holes in 4 under – and he didn’t make a birdie during that stretch. Garcia made a 9-foot eagle putt at No. 11, then holed a shot from 207 yards at No. 15 for another.
The Spaniard has now started making birdies – rolling in a 6-footer at the 16th hole and a making a 14-footer from just off the 18th green to make the turn in 30.
Garcia is now 4 under and four behind Phil Mickelson and Jonathan Byrd with nine holes remaining in his round. Imagine what might have happened had it not been for his second-round 76.
