Tidbits from the third round

KAPALUA, Hawaii – A few notes from Sunday’s third round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions:

After four consecutive birdies to finish his third round, Steve Stricker has now played the final five holes in 13 under par this week. That’s the best any player has played the last five holes through three rounds at the Plantation Course …

When Stricker has held the outright 54-hole lead at a 72-hole event, he has never lost. He’s 7 for 7 in his career in that situation …

Jonathan Byrd was 8 under in his final 15 holes after starting the day 2 over through three holes. He’s broken par in 18 of his 19 rounds at the Plantation Course …

Nick Watney had the only bogey-free round of the day. He shot 5-under 68 …

Three birdies were made at the first hole Sunday. No birdies had been made there the first two rounds …

Just 17 rounds over par have been shot this week by the 27-man field. …

Michael Bradley, at 45 years old, is the oldest player in the field. He had the longest drive of the day, 417 yards at the par-5 18th. Bradley has now had at least one drive of 400-plus yards in each of the first three rounds. He had never had a 400-yard drive on the PGA TOUR until this week …

Rory Sabbatini made the longest putt of the day, 45 feet, 4 inches at the par-4 seventh.

Ben Crane had 11 one-putt greens, best total of any player this week. But his round came unraveled when he took a triple-bogey 8 at the par-5 15th.  That’s the highest single score on any hole this week …

Jhonattan Vegas had three double-bogeys on Sunday. He has four double bogeys and one triple bogey for the week. …
