LA JOLLA, Calif. – Those is second place keep changing but one thing remains the same. Kyle Stanley is leading the Farmers Insurance Open as he starts the back nine on the South Course.
Stanley, the big-hitting Clemson product, is 2 under for the day and he owns a three-stroke lead over Bill Haas at 16 under. He just made his first bogey of the day when his approach flew the green at No. 12 and he missed a 7-footer to save par.
Haas, who is playing one group ahead of Stanley, also is 3 under after birdie putts of 2, 15 and 20 feet. He and Phil Mickelson took the lead into the final round a year ago at Torrey Pines.
PGA TOUR rookie John Hugh has closed to 12 under after making five birdies and two bogeys in his first 13 holes. Jonas Bliixt and Cameron Tringale made big moves up the leaderboard with rounds of 66 and 65, respectively, to finish at 11 under.
John Rollins, Brandt Snedeker, Martin Flores and Sang-moon Bae are also tied at 11 under – the first two through 13 holes and the latter two through 12. Bae, also a TOUR rookie, has rebounded well with three straight birdies after a disappointing start that included a double bogey and three bogeys in his first four holes.
