ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. –- Bud Cauley’s bid for a top-10
finish and a spot in next week’s Children’s Miracle
Network Hospitals Classic took a hit with back-to-back bogeys on
holes 13 and 14 at Sea Island. The 21-year-old is now tied for 27th
6 under. Regardless of his finishing position this week, it looks
like Cauley’s going to secure a TOUR card for the 2012
season. All he has to do is earn as much money as No. 125 on the
money list after next week’s event. His season earnings thus
far would rank him No. 114. Should he not qualify for the event at
Disney, Cauley has already committed to the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville
Open presented by Planters -- the Nationwide Tour event at TPC
Sawgrass near his hometown. Robert Allenby, who was 5 under on his
round and 9 under for the week, surrendered three shots with a
triple-bogey on the par-3 13th. He earned one back with a birdie on
No. 14 to get back to 7 under, tied for 19th. Winless on the TOUR
since 2001, the Aussie finished in a tie for third here last year.
