By Zak Kozuchowski, PGATOUR.COM Michael Thompson’s
late spark in Round 2 could help him move off the list of players
on the
FedExCup
bubble. Through 14 holes in Round 2, he was safely inside the
cut line at 1 under. Thompson then birdied Nos. 15, 17 and 18 to
get to 4 under and gain a share of the lead with Chad Campbell and
Lee Janzen. Thompson’s best finish this year came at the
Travelers Championship, where he finished tied for fourth. He also
finished tied for 12th at the John Deere Classic. If he wins this
week, Thompson is projected to move to 34th in the FedExCup
standings.
