PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- Toru Taniguchi has withdrawn from the
World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship due to a
neck injury. Taniguchi, who is No. 64 in the Official World Golf
Ranking, has been replaced by Henrik Stenson, who won the Accenture
Match Play Championship in 2007. Stenson, the former PLAYERS champ
who is ranked 65th in the world, will play world No. 1 Lee
Westwood in his first round match. Westwood is the top seed in the
Bobby Jones Bracket. The brackets become final at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Prior to that time, the brackets would be adjusted should a player
withdraw. If he withdraws after 7 p.m., his replacement would
be slotted into the original player’s match.
