A finally healthy Henrik Stenson looked to be returning to form at
CordeValle this week. Stenson got off to a good start with a pair
of 67s to start the tournament. The wheels appear to have fallen
off in this round, though. He got in some trouble in a greenside
bunker on the par-4 fifth and went on to double bogey. And he found
a fairway bunker off the tee on six and went on to bogey. In total,
four bogeys and one double on the front nine have left him six over
par for the day, and dropped him back to two under for the
tournament. Stenson is exempt next year due to his PLAYERS win in
2009, but is competing this week to reach 15 events for the year.
